Abstract
The intense use of messaging/communication technologies and social media platforms by individuals has led to the emergence of a new phenomenon called “fear of missing out” (FoMO). In the workplace, FoMO refers to employees' fear of missing important tasks, opportunities, and information when they are not present at work. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of organizational commitment on workplace FoMO. The study employed a quantitative research method, and the survey technique was utilized as the data collection tool. Data obtained from 214 restaurant employees in Kayseri were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The study concluded that there is a positive relationship between organizational commitment and workplace FoMO. Similarly, positive relationships were observed between the dimensions of organizational commitment—affective commitment, normative commitment, and continuance commitment—and the informational exclusion and relational exclusion dimensions of workplace FoMO. According to the results of multiple regression analysis, affective and continuance commitment were found to positively affect informational exclusion and relational exclusion.
